| Earlston Rhymers F.C |
| Earlston Rhymers Football Club was established in 1970 and currently play in the Border Embroidaries Border Amatuer League Division C. They play their home games at Runciman Park which is widley considered one of the best playing surfaces in the Border Amatuer League. The club play in sky blue and white vertically striped tops, with navy blue shorts and sky blue socks. The Rhymers most recent success came in season 2002/2003 when they lifted the Border Amatuer League Division A title under the guidance of current Gala Fairydean manager Fraser Lothian. Since those days at the top, the club have fallen into disarray and now find themselves in the lowest tear of Border football after 2 relegations and the loss of most of their star players to East of Scotland football. The task of awakening this sleeping giant has been placed on the shoulders of new manager, Aidan Hume (formerly of Gala Hotspur, Earlston and SFA) who will combine his managerial position with playing, he will be assisted by Lee Manderson. Robert Gourdie was in command last season as the Rhymers finished a disappointing fifth (narrowly missing out on the final UEFA Cup place) in the table after being massive favourites for promotion at the start of the season. However the performances at the tale end of last season were encouraging with only 2 defeats in 12 games, with various signings eventually showing the promise for which they were signed. The club will again be hoping to bring in some new faces this season and the Rhymers will again start as most peoples favourites for promotion. Let's hope the club have something to shout about this season or the management may be put on the footballing scrap heap!!! |
