SQUAD 2009/10
Name: Martin Gibson
Nickname: Gibby
D/O/B: 21/12/1986
Position: Midfielder / Striker
Preferred Foot: Left
Former Clubs: Gala McQueen / Gala Rovers
Gibby signed from Gala Rovers at the start of the 2008/09 season and quickly made an impression scoring 3 goals in his first
3 games. He then left for 3months to complete police training before returning against Tweedmouth in a 2-1 defeat. Although
normally a striker he has played as an attacking midfielder for The Rhymers and will be hoping to play in more games this
season and add to the 15 goals he managed last term.

Name: Kevin McNeill
Nickname: Kev
D/O/B: 1/12/1986
Position: Right Back
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Tweedbank Thistle Under 16's
Kev signed for The Rhymers at the beginning of season 2008/09 and made the right back position his own for the first half of
the season. The change of tactics to a back three midway through the season left Kev on the bench before work commitments
all but ruled him out for the rest of the campaign. This season Kev will be looking to show the good form that got him a call up
to the Fairydean squad last season.
0 Name: Robert Gourdie
Nickname: Gourdie
D/O/B: 4/09/1986
Position: Midfielder
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Gala Hotspur
Gourdie retired from football at the end of the 2007/08 season after sustaining a serious knee injury. He was appointed
Earlston Rhymers manager in 2008 and guided the club to fifth in the C division although only narrowly missing out on
promotion. He came out of retirement midway through last season due to limited options in midfield and produced some
good performances as well as chipping in with his fair share of goals. This season Robert again intends to pull on his boots
and will no doubt be a mainstay of the rhymers midfield. He scored 7 goals last season.

Nickname: Dinger
D/O/B: 03/02/1979
Position: Striker
Preferred Foot: Both
Former Clubs: Gordon / Lauder
Dinger started last season as the clubs number 1 marksman but it was quickly evident that he would play the role of goal
maker rather than goal scorer. Dinger forged good partnerships with Niel Laidlaw and latterly Stevie Kerr before a fall out with
management over the signings of Gala Fairydean duds prematurely ended his season. The Hitman is back though and will
be looking to improve on the 3 goals he scored last season.
Name: Gordon watson
Nickname: Super Gogsy
D/O/B: 25/12/1984
Position: Defender
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Earlston Rhymers
Gogsy is coming out of retirement this year after previously having played for the rhymers and will be hoping to cement a
regular place in the side.
Name: Craig Marshall
Nickname: Flash
D/O/B: 17/07/1991
Position: Defender
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Gala Fairydean Under 17's
Flash joined the Rhymers from Gala Fairydean's Under 17's last season and was in and out of the side. He was the
youngest squad member last year and will be hoping that another years experience will help him gain a fist team place this
term. When flash isn't playing football he's fighting Ming the Merciless in his red super hero attire!
Nickname: Aidy baby
D/O/B: 13/05/1971
Position: Assistant manager/ supersub
Preferred Foot: Left
Former Clubs: Gala Rovers / Gala Hotspur
Aidan signed towards the end of last season as a player and played the roll of supersub, often sent on to roughen up
opposition defences and scoring the odd goal. This season though he has been promoted to assistant manager and will be
travelling the globe in the search of new players and training techniques.
Name: Gary Lothian
Nickname: Trout
D/O/B: 13/10/1983
Position: Defender
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Vale Of Leithan / selkirk
Trout signed on for the second half of last season and quickly showed his experience and class. He struck up an instant
understanding with Gary Turner at the heart of the defence and was one of the reasons for the Rhymers change in fortunes
at the tale end of the season. He will no doubt play a big part for the rhymers this year and always chips in with his fair share
of goals.
Name: Nathan Greenfields
Nickname:
D/O/B: 11/08/1986
Position: Striker
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Gala Fairydean / Gala Hotspur
Nathan joined the rhymers at the start of last season and quickly disappeared, he re-appeared toward the end of the season
and added further options up front. This year he will be hoping to have a place in the starting line up consistently and add to
the 2 goals he managed last year.

Name: Andy Munro
Nickname: Puff
D/O/B: 09/10/1972
Position: Goal Keeper
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Richmond Rovers / Capital City
Puff ended last season as The Rhymer's number 1 replacing Lee Manderson between the sticks. A shoulder injury will keep
him out of the start of this season but he will be hoping to regain his place once back to full fitness. Puff juggles his
succesful football career with the stressful job of running the Rhymer's watering hole The Swan. We think he does a very
good job and he also looks great doing it! It shouldn't be forgotten that he stays up all night on Fridays and makes the team
rolls and soup for after Saturday's games!
Name: Lee Manderson
Nickname: Handy Mandy
D/O/B:
Position: Goal Keeper
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs:
Mandy is a former Rhymer's manager and was in charge of the team when they parachuted down into the C Division. Now he
concentrates solely on playing and started last season as the clubs number 1. He was somewhat controversially replaced
midway through the season after going on holiday but will again start this campaign in goals. The defence can take comfort
knowing they have an "A Division Class Keeper" behind them on a Saturday should he be needed.

Name: Nicoli Oleson
Nickname: Nick
D/O/B:
Position: Central Midfielder
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: (In this country) Gala Rovers
Nick also signed from Gala Rovers at the start of the 2008/09 campaign. Nick is bilingual and you may not know that he
speaks fluent Danish as well as some Swedish. He was awarded the committee's player of the year award last season after
some classy performances. His tough tackling and eye for a killer pass were one of the main reasons for the rhymers
success at times, when nick didn't play the team didn't seem to perform as well. Nick likes a nutmeg and will this season no
doubt be trying it every week, he will also be hoping to score his first ever goal for the club so his team mates will stop taking
the piss.

Name: Neil Laidlaw
Nickname: Nelly
D/O/B: 10/07/81
Position: Midfielder / Striker
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Stow / Gala Rovers
Nelly had a successful season last year and was top goal scorer as well as player of the year and joint committee's player of
the year. Although he scored over 20 goals he also created a few as well when playing wide right. If the rhymers are to gain
promotion this year then a lot will depend on Neil's form and if he can avoid injury's.
Name: Lee Martin
Nickname: Skitter
D/O/B:
Position: Defender
Preferred Foot: Left
Former Clubs: Earlston
Skitter re-signed with the rhymers at the beginning of the season and has quickly made the position of left back
his own. His over lapping runs from defence and good delivery into the box make him a handful for any team.
Name: Scott Robertson
Nickname: wee man
D/O/B: 01/01/2008
Position: Midfielder
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Earlston under 10's
Scott is an up and coming young player who has wisely chosen to continue his footballing education at the rhymers. With
coaches such as Gourdie and Hume he will surely progress into a modern day Jimmy Johnstone. The sky's the limit for this
young man!
Nickname: Gills
D/O/B:
Position: Striker
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Gala rovers
Stevie has been a welcome addition to the rhymers squad this season and despite having yet to score in competitive action
he managed a couple of screamers in pre-season. Also chipped in with his fair share of assists and it's only a matter of time
before he starts hitting the goal trail!
Nickname: Goose
D/O/B: 13/10/1983
Position: Midfielder
Preferred Foot: Right
Former Clubs: Vale / Selkirk
The signing of Goose was a major coup for the rhymers. He has vast experience at East of Scotland level and was a mainstay
in the rhymers midfield last season. Not only did he set up a lot of his team mates strikes but he also managed double figures
himself. Partial to a red and yellow card Goose started this season suspended but has quickly hit the goal trail since returning.
